Scott Arthurson Education (Research) Officer

(he/him)

Scott is a PhD candidate in Politics and International Relations and a casual tutor at the University of Melbourne. He has volunteered in various organizations, and worked in media relations, communications, retail and hospitality. He believes universities should be more democratic, with greater control in the hands of staff and students, as opposed to a top-down management model. In his present term as Education (Research) Officer, he is focused on securing adequate workspaces for graduate researchers and supporting research students’ grassroots organizing efforts. Some of the other matters that interest him are students’ cost of living issues, food and accommodation security, and freedom of protest on campus. If you’ve noticed any collective issues graduate research students are facing, please send him an email at research@gsa.unimelb.edu.au
