Become a GSA member

If you’re an enrolled University of Melbourne graduate student, you’re eligible to become a member of GSA and membership is free!

Becoming an official member of GSA comes with many benefits. Firstly, becoming a member helps to amplify GSA’s collective voice, which helps us to better advocate for graduate students at the University of Melbourne. You’ll also stay in the loop with early updates on GSA news and events. If you’re interested in becoming a student representative for GSA, you’ll need to be a member in order to run in GSA elections. By becoming a member you will be supporting the Graduate Student Association in continuing our work on campus for all enrolled graduate students.

Become a GSA Member

If you missed out on signing up to become a member for GSA during enrolment, don’t worry! You can become a member anytime by updating your preferences in your Student Portal.

Follow the instructions below to update your membership details.
Please note it can take up to 24 hours for your changes to be updated.

    1. Go to the Student Portal
    2. Click on the profile icon on the right side
    3. Select “Personal Details“
    4. Select “Student Union Membership Details“
    5. Scroll down to sign up for the Graduate Student Association Membership
    6. Select “Yes” for “I agree to become a member of the University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association.”
    7.  Select “Yes” or “No” to “I would like more information about the University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association membership.“
    8. Make sure you click Update and Submit!

If you would like to be subscribed to the newsletter, select “Yes” for “I would like more information about the University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association membership.”

All events and services hosted by GSA are free for graduate studnents unless otherwise specified. You can follow along to our Facebook and Instagram, or subscribe to the newsletter to hear about our upcoming events. All events are also listed on our events calendar.
 
GSA Affiliated Grad Groups will occasionally run ticketed events for graduate students at a subsidised price. 
You can find upcoming Grad Group events by visiting the Grad Groups Events Calendar.
As a GSA member, you’ll be the first to hear about our upcoming social events, training workshops and services. You will also be able to enter exclusive members-only giveaways. If you’re thinking about getting involved in the GSA elections, you’ll need to be a GSA member to run as a candidate and to vote.
Of course! GSA is here to provide support services to all enrolled graduate students at the University, regardless of membership status.
You can withdraw from a GSA membership at any time.

  5. Select “No” for “I agree to become a member of the University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association.”
