Graduate Art Prize 2025 Terms and Conditions
By participating in the GSA Graduate Art Prize 2025, you are subject to the following terms and conditions:
- Eligibility: This competition is open exclusively to currently enrolled University of Melbourne postgraduate students. GSA Staff (including casual student staff members), Board, Representative, and Faculty Council members are ineligible to participate.
- Entry Limitation: Each student is allowed only one entry (including any collaboration entry). Entries must be submitted using the entrant’s University of Melbourne student email address.
- Submission Period: Entries will be accepted between 9:00 AM, 16th June 2025 and 5:00 PM, Wednesday 30th July 2025. Late or misdirected entries will not be considered.
- Artwork Requirements:
Entrants must affirm that they are the sole creators of their artwork, produced within the preceding 12 months (June 2024–July 2025) including the submission period. Only original, non-AI-generated, still artworks suitable for printing on paper will be accepted. Video entries or QR codes are not permissible and will result in disqualification. Artworks submitted as QR codes that link to another form of media (e.g. video or interactive content) are not eligible.
Links included in artist statements will be removed prior to judging and will not be considered part of the submission.
Use of stock images or clip art will be cause for disqualification. - Collaboration: Entrants are allowed to collaborate on an artwork, however, all collaborators must be current postgraduate students at the University of Melbourne. Details will be checked of any additional collaborators. If successful through the selection process, only one ceremony ticket will be provided per artwork, plus one guest (total 2 tickets).
- Selection Process: All submitted artworks will undergo a selection process to determine which artworks proceed to the final judging phase. Only artworks that are selected will be included in the Art Prize. Selection will be based on images and information submitted by the entrant. The selection decision is final and not subject to appeal.
- Authenticity Verification: All submitted artworks will undergo individual review for authenticity. Entrants may be required to provide verification upon request. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from judging and forfeiture of prize money.
- Communication Responsibility: Entrants are responsible for monitoring their email, including spam folders, for communication related to their submission. Failure to respond within the specified timeframe will render the submitted artwork ineligible for prizes and may be excluded from the exhibition.
- Final Decision: The decision on winning entries is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Content Guidelines: Entries deemed offensive or inconsistent with GSA values will be rejected.
- Copyright and Usage Rights: Entrants retain copyright to their artwork. By participating in the GSA Graduate Art Prize 2024, entrants grant GSA permission to display and publish entries (or part thereof) on its website, other platforms, and for promotional purposes. GSA also receives a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use photographs of the artwork for non-commercial purposes across all GSA media.
- Disqualification: GSA reserves the right to exclude entries or withdraw prizes if entrants fail to meet the Entry Requirements or abide by these Terms and Conditions.
- Prize Eligibility: Students are eligible for prizes only if they attend the ceremony or if a GSA pre-approved delegate attends on their behalf. Each accepted submission will receive one ticket for the artist and one ticket for one additional guest to the Award Ceremony.
