1.International Officer Candidate:
Having navigated visa complexities and academic transitions myself, I pledge to transform GSA into the ultimate support hub for 15,000+ international students. My 3-point plan:
Academic Success Partnerships: Establish discipline-specific writing circles with Graduate School mentors
Career Bridge Program: Partner with Melbourne Connect to create micro-internships for non-EU students
24/7 Multilingual Support: Implement a “Global Peers” network with trained cultural liaisons
I will institutionalize monthly International Student Forums with GSA leadership and advocate for extending OSHC coverage to mental health services. Let’s co-create a Global Festival showcasing our 160+ nationalities through thesis-inspired art exhibits and research pitch competitions.
2.Environment & Sustainability Officer Candidate:
Building on Melbourne’s Climate Neutrality Framework, I propose:
Green Labs Certification: Incentivize labs to reduce energy use 20% through equipment-sharing portals
Circular Campus System: Install 10 new hydration stations + GSA-subsidized reusable lab gear
Climate Research-to-Action: Match 500 students with sustainability researchers for policy hackathons
I’ll expand the Sustainability Grants program to fund student-led urban biodiversity projects along Grattan Street. Partnering with UniMelb Property Services, we’ll pilot solar-powered study hubs in Southbank campus. Every GSA event will feature carbon-offset options and zero-waste catering from local social enterprises.
