I am an older First Nations Trans Woman who would be honored to be your Queer Officer for GSA. I am a qualified teacher, social worker and sociologist who is completing a Master of Social Policy I am committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and vibrant community for all LGBTQIA+ students. I believe our diverse identities enhance the academic and social landscape of our university, and it is essential that every individual feels safe, respected, and valued, which i will champion for all students especially our overseas queer students.
I will advocate for policies that promote equality, inclusivity, and representation for queer students, addressing key issues such as mental health support, housing, and academic resources tailored to our community’s needs. This includes facilitating online workshops, events, and develop a refreshed queer zines academia that will encourage dialogue about queer issues, as well as empowering students to share their experiences and perspectives.
I currently sit on the Victorian Governments LGBTQA Taskforce Health and wellbeing Committee, LGBTQA Health Australia First Nations Steering Advisory Commitee, Q Life Health and Safety Advisory Committee, and appointed openly first Trans woman on Victoria’s Equality Reference Group. I spend my time with my six cats and navigate 26 community advisory groups across Australia. I also host a Queer TV Show on bent TV for the past three years.
