Mevuni Wanigasooriya is a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Melbourne with a background in Politics & International Studies. With a deep commitment to law, policy and governance, Mevuni has worked across diplomatic, business and research spheres to drive impactful change.

 

Her experience includes working with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she analyzed international treaties and contributed to policy research on human rights and nuclear disarmament. As a journalist at Capital Maharaja Group, she reported on legal and political issues, including labor rights and human trafficking to shape public discourse on critical policy matters.

 

Passionate about legal advocacy and policy reform, Mevuni is dedicated to ensuring student voices influence governance structures. She brings strategic insight to the GSA, fostering informed, engaged and legally empowered student communities.
