Ben is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Ben’s PhD focusses on the impact of modern-day insults on the development of the gut – in particular, microplastics and antibiotics. His research highlights the importance of sustainable and environmentally conscious practices. Ben has previously led various committees at the University of Melbourne and has been involved in various aspects of student life over his past 7 years at the university. He is keen to utilise his experience to advocate for the environment on behalf of the graduate students. In his position, Ben is looking to further improve sustainable practices at the University of Melbourne and provide resources to graduate students so that they can also improve their own sustainable practices. In his spare time, Ben tends to his garden which further inspires him to help do his part in taking care of the Earth.
