An update from the GSA President: October 1st, 2024
Dear Graduate Students,
I hope you’ve had a rejuvenating long weekend. I certainly did, spending time at Wilsons Promontory with the wombats, wallabies, and emus.
In the last few weeks, GSA made a successful return to Burnley Campus, reconnecting with graduate students working in urban horticulture. As a campus that consists of graduate students only, we felt that it was important to have a presence there and show that student unions should represent more than just those studying in Parkville.
I’m pleased to also update you on the progress of our Electoral Regulations review and our 2030 Strategic Plan, both of which are advancing well. If you missed out on the consulting sessions and would like to have your voice heard, please feel free to reach out to me at president@gsa.unimelb.edu.au. I’ll be more than happy to sit down, have a chat and hear your thoughts on your experience with GSA.
On the advocacy end, GSA has been actively involved in revising and updating the now-approved Student Academic Integrity Policy and Graduate Research Training Policy. These changes aim to provide graduate students with a more equitable experience and ensure that graduate students are equipped with the resources we require to succeed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Lastly, I’m thrilled to announce that this year’s GSA Graduate Ball will be themed Disco! As an organization committed to advocating for student affordability and cost of living, we’ve worked hard to subsidize tickets, whilst also ensuring that it’ll be a night to remember for all. I am very much looking forward to celebrate the end of semester with you.
Best of luck with your studies!
Yours sincerely,
Ethan Chou
