An update from the GSA President: July 28th 2025
Welcome to GSA O-Week!
This is the week for you. All graduate students and researchers are welcome, even if it is not your first week at UniMelb. Every day there will be something new, with events, activities, free food (as always), and opportunities to get your hands on exclusive, premium, expertly designed GSA merchandise.
If you are a visual person like me, save this GSA O-Week Calendar to your phone so you do not miss a thing. I cannot wait to meet you all.
I also want to remind you that beyond the fun, GSA provides targeted support for all graduate students and researchers. This includes accommodation support through our Accommodation Support Officer and Rental Toolkit (which is soon to expanded to a full Online Hub), as well as academic support through programs like Shut Up and Write and Thesis Bootcamp, and more. As the first point of contact, our Elected Representatives are here to support you throughout your grad journey.
Finally, I am proud to share that GSA has successfully advocated for the Fareshare frozen meals program to expand to regional campuses, starting with Werribee next month. Graduate students, especially PhD candidates and researchers, are based all across Victoria, not just in Parkville, and this is a big step forward. This win was made possible because of your voices. Thank you.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach me at president@gsa.unimelb.edu.au. Always happy to meet.
Yours sincerely,
Ethan Chou
