  • Faculty Council: Education Nominee

As a second-year Master of Teaching (Secondary) student, I noticed many policies and decisions were made over the last 12 months. Some have left some of the students confused, unsatisfied or frustrated. When I asked the teaching staff for the reason behind some decisions, I often heard that they were told what to do. Yet, when I attended the Education Student Advisory Committee (EdSAC) town hall meeting last year and asked a question that I previously mentioned to an EdSAC member, it appears the executive was not fully aware of the situation.

I want to become a faculty council member for the faculty of Education as I aim to create another channel of communication between the students and the faculty with the support of GSA. I aim to improve the transparency of the faculty so that students understand the reasons behind the decisions and advocate and represent students’ interests, voices and rights. Additionally, I aim to work with other GSA representatives to increase the presence of GSA in the faculty of education buildings, allowing students to contact GSA more easily and promoting events and services of GSA.
