The African Studies Group is a postgraduate student-led discussion group at the School of Social and Political Sciences. It is open to both students and staff whose research interests and activities are either focused on Africa or have relevance to African studies. The study group critically engages with issues such as colonialism, politics, development, conflicts, land dispossession, extraction of natural resources, gender and governance in Africa among others. It is a platform for student socialising, cohort building, support and sharing varying experiences.
