Collaborative symposium by Crossing Borders Monash & Melbourne University on refugee health aimed at engaging students in the health of people seeking asylum.
Refugees and asylum seekers face, in the form of the Australian immigration system, extremely difficult and often devastating challenges to health and mental health.
We will hear from 3-4 speakers about experiences in immigration detention, the ongoing fight for stability and permanent protection, affective empathy and its role in carrying out work in the refugee space, attempting to be with people in their stories of pain, and supporting young people seeking asylum in Australia.
