Celebrate women worldwide at our International Women Day event, where we'll empower, inspire, and uplift each other!

Celebrate the power and achievements of women with GSA’s inspiting speaker event at the Gryphon Gallery, located in the 1888 Building (level 1).

Dedicated to women’s empowerment, equality, and progress. Discover incredible stories of women who have broken barriers and made a lasting impact on society.

Three influential speakers will share their insights. See below for more information on our speakers.

Dr. Katherine Firth

Dr. Katherine Firth, an award-winning educator and author at the University of Melbourne, specializes in communication skills, writing, and productivity. She’s authored multiple acclaimed books, including “How to Fix your Academic Writing Trouble” and “Your PhD Survival Guide.

Helen Baker

Helen, an Ed-Tech Entrepreneur, founded Xolvit to connect companies with students to address real-world challenges, leveraging her experience as an orphaned child, her corporate background, and her advisory roles, all while juggling her family commitments.

Raine Laysico

Raine, based in Melbourne, is a positive-minded wife, mother, advocate, campaign manager, journalist, and aspiring author. Her upcoming book, “Beyond Sinigang,” shares migrant stories and signature dishes of Filipino chefs, aiming to spread positivity with proceeds donated to Beyond Blue.

PLEASE NOTE: this is an event for University of Melbourne graduate students only. When you login to Eventbrite to register, please use your UoM student email. Orders made that do not include a UoM student email and ID will be cancelled.

Venue accessibility: accessible entry is via the courtyards of 1888 Building (back of building) and a lift is located next to reception on the ground floor (near the West courtyard entry). There is an all gender accessible bathroom on Level 1.
