What is the Graduate Catalyst Program?
The Graduate Catalyst Program is an initiative led by GSA aimed at offering mentorship, leadership, and development opportunities for graduate students. This program provides participants with practical work experience that facilitates their transition to the professional environment, while also supporting the organizational goals of the GSA. Successful participants will be compensated as casual staff members.
The program provides casual work opportunities at various times during the year depending on GSA activities and its resourcing needs. If you are successful in the application process, you will be eligible to receive work offers from time to time which you can then choose to accept. Those work offers depend on GSA’s needs and the various activities it runs. There is no minimum or maximum number of hours of work available to a casual employee and there is no guarantee of ongoing or consistent work.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this program, you must be:
- A current University of Melbourne graduate student for the full duration of the program (program ends December 2025)
- Be joining the program for the first time (Graduate Catalyst is a program that GSA offers to new graduates each year)
- Meet Australian working rights requirements
- Possess or be willing to obtain GSA’s staff checks (Working with Children and Police Check)
