This GSA O-Week Special Event involves painting on miniature canvases to produce a unique keepsake for yourself and a friend.
***Please note – this is a ticketed event and registration is compulsory***
The Miniature Canvas Artwork Painting Workshop invites graduate students to pause, create, and connect beyond the usual pressures of academic life. The objective of this workshop is to nurture wellbeing and community through the simple act of making art together. Each participant will paint a couple of hand-held, pocket-sized canvases for a personal keepsakes or gifts.
Unlike digital interactions, painting restores our connection to the physical world, builds focus, and brings joy back into our hands. Across all disciplines, the workshop does more than spark creativity: it supports fine motor skills (for health and science students), empathy and reflection (for arts and social sciences), and visual storytelling (for business students). Painting side by side breaks down barriers, fosters friendships, and grows a vibrant, collaborative graduate community. Students will leave not only with their own creations, but with a renewed sense of presence, purpose, and connection.
No prior art experience is needed. All materials are provided.
