Ready to sign up? Registrations are now open. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your squad together and make sure you don’t miss out on the action!
🔹 Register as a Team: One team member submits the form with details for all players. A secondary contact person must be listed.
🔹 Register as an Individual: Sign up solo, and we’ll try to match you with a team (placement not guaranteed).

GSA Sports Day is an exciting new event for postgraduate students at the University of Melbourne! Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just looking for a fun day out, this event is all about friendly competition, teamwork, and community spirit.

Get ready to compete in three thrilling sports:
6-a-Side Soccer
Get ready to hit the field for our 6-a-side soccer tournament! Whether you’re a seasoned player or just here for a good time, grab your team, enjoy the game, and soak up the great vibes.
- Team Size: 6 players, including goalkeeper (reserve players are encouraged to keep the energy high)
- Mixed-Gender Rule: At least two players who identify as women and two who identify as men
- Individual Sign-Ups: No team? Register solo, and we’ll try to match you with a team (not guaranteed)
Dodgeball
Get ready to duck, dive, and throw in this fast-paced, high-energy game! Whether you’re aiming for victory or just here for the laughs, bring your best moves and have a blast on the court.
- Team Size: 6 players (reserve players are encouraged to keep the energy high)
- Mixed-Gender Rule: At least two players who identify as women and two who identify as men
- Individual Sign-Ups: Solo players can register, and we’ll try to place you in a team (not guaranteed)
Badminton
**Registrations for badminton have closed due to all slots being filled.**
Fast rallies, quick reflexes, and plenty of fun—badminton is the perfect mix of skill and excitement! Grab your racquet, team up, and enjoy a day of lighthearted competition on the court.
- Format: Mixed doubles or singles
- Mixed-Gender Rule: If you sign up for doubles, the team must be mixed-gender
Note: If there aren’t enough participants for any sporting event listed, the event may be modified or canceled.

- Monday, 24 March – Registrations close
- Thursday, 27 March – Tournament schedule and Teams will ne confirmed on the day of the event, during registration.

As the competition winds down, join us for a BBQ dinner to celebrate your hard work and sportsmanship! Grab a bite, relax, and cheer on your fellow participants as we hand out prizes and celebrate the best performances of the day.
- 1:30 PM – Registrations
- 2.00 PM – Competitions begin
- 5:00 PM – All games conclude and Award Ceremony begins
- 5:20 PM – Awards Ceremony Concludes
- 5.20 PM – BBQ Dinner
- 7:00 PM – Event concludes

Prizes & Awards
🏆 The winners in each sport will take home prizes, along with other special awards and prizes up for grabs on the day!
🎉 Celebrate at the Awards Ceremony & BBQ Dinner – a great way to unwind after the competition.
1st place – all winners in the team (per sport) will take home a $100 voucher
2nd place – all winners in the team (per sport) will take home a $50 voucher
3rd place – all winners in the team (per sport) will take home a $25 voucher

GSA Sports Day isn’t just for players—bring your family and friends to cheer you on! Please note that parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children throughout the event.
Participation Policy
To ensure a safe, inclusive, and fair event, all participants must follow the GSA Sports Day Participation Policy. By registering, you agree to these guidelines. Non-compliance may result in disqualification.
Frequently Asked Questions
GSA Sports Day is open exclusively to currently enrolled postgraduate students at the University of Melbourne. Unfortunately, undergraduate students and alumni are not eligible to participate.
GSA Sports Day will take place at MU Sport’s outdoor pitch and East Stadium on the Parkville campus.
Participants must wear comfortable athletic wear and closed-toe sports shoes. Coloured bibs will be provided by MU Sport to differentiate between teams.
Game durations and the number of matches per team will be confirmed after registrations close and teams are finalised. You’ll receive a detailed schedule before the event.
Yes! If you don’t have a team, you can register as an individual, and we will try to place you in a team. However, placement is not guaranteed, as it depends on the number of other individual sign-ups.
Yes! Friends and family are welcome to come and cheer you on. However, parents or carers are responsible for supervising their children at all times.
Please bring your own snacks and water bottle to keep you fuelled and hydrated throughout the day.
After the competition, we’ll wrap up the day with a free BBQ dinner for all participants.
