Alexander Tofler Disability and Equity Officer
(he/him)
Hi, I’m Alexander, the Disability and Equity Officer at the Graduate Student Association (GSA). I’m committed to addressing intersectionality in my advocacy and utilising the social model of disability. My role encompasses many students who may not identify as living with a disability, but instead with differences and accessibility requirements – including but limited to carers, chronic illness, neurodivergence, mental health experiences, and any other identity or experience which may require accommodations. This is fundamental to my approach and work to uphold the rights of all students to enable participation on an equal basis as their peers. My work involves creating accessible spaces, fostering community connections, and amplifying the voices of underrepresented students.
Currently studying law, I aim to bridge my academic focus with my advocacy work, driving initiatives that challenge systemic barriers and promote equity. I’m particularly passionate about empowering graduate students through targeted events, focus groups, and policy reform. Whether it’s connecting students with resources, amplifying lived experiences, or facilitating conversations around accessibility, my goal is to ensure that every student feels seen, heard, and supported.
If you’d like to connect, collaborate, or share your experiences, feel free to reach out. Let’s work together to build a more accessible GSA community.
