Board Member Nominee:

Hi everyone, I’m Tushar, a PhD Candidate, at the Faculty of Arts. My journey to this point started with a life-changing scholarship that brought me from a low socio-economic background in Delhi, India to Australia. This experience, coupled with the support I received as an international student, fuels my desire to give back to the student community.

My tenure as a Student Representative and Mentor at my previous institution, the University of Sydney, equipped me with invaluable experience. I successfully raised and addressed students’ financial concerns, increased internship opportunities, and actively participated in the enrichment of the student experience through various programs and mentorship roles.

This background has prepared me to understand and address the unique challenges faced by postgraduate students, particularly those related to balancing academic and financial pressures. At UniMelb, I aim to leverage my past experiences to advocate for and support postgraduate students more effectively.

I believe my track record shows my dedication to enhancing student life and academics through active participation and representation. Electing me to the GSA board means choosing a representative who understands your challenges firsthand and is committed to creating tangible improvements in our community.
