Sara Batgerel Families Officer

(she/her)

As a Master of Public Health student at the University of Melbourne, a former Student Engagement Officer at GSA, and an accomplished kidney doctor in Mongolia, Sara Batgerel brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advocacy. As a mother of two, she understands firsthand the challenges faced by graduate students with families—balancing academic responsibilities, parenting, and navigating university life as an international student. Her experiences have fueled her passion for ensuring that student parents feel supported, valued, and empowered.

In her role as Family Representative Officer, Sara is committed to creating a more inclusive and family-friendly university environment. She aims to develop a comprehensive online resource to help student parents access financial aid and essential university services, foster a strong community through events and peer support programs, and advocate for academic policies that recognize the unique needs of students with care-giving responsibilities, such as special considerations and extensions.

Sara believes that having a family should not be a barrier to academic success. Through her role, she hopes to ensure that students with families feel supported, valued, and connected throughout their academic journey.
