Hi I am Ricki Spencer. My pronouns are They and Her and I am a proud Trans woman with lived disabilities and of the Stolen Generation. I am completing my Masters of learning Intervention I would love to be re-elected as the Queer Officer for 2022/2023. I am passionate about transgedner rights and wellbeing on our campus as well as other Queer students with intersectionalities. . During my time with GSA I have created visibility for trans students and queer students with a disability. Last year I had organised the successful Transgender Awareness Week via zoom. If I am re elected, I will ensure that we have greater representation on and off campus. I am keen for us to have greater imput in the GSA space with a production of a queer journal highlighting postgrad students students work. This would allow students in developing a greater presence in academic scholarship at the university. I have established a partnership with Proud to Play sporting space, and Victorian Breast SCreening Victoria , as the first Transgender Indigenous woman as an Ambassador for health. I am actively involved in the community and a qualified teacher, social worker and community development with 25 years experince working with our diverse community. I spend my time volunteering in various spaces including THorne Harbour Health, Trans Health Australia, The Greens, Royal Melbourne Hospital, LGBTIQ HEALTH Australia and Yarra Council and current Convenor for Sociology of Media in Australia for the AUstralian Sociological Association.
