Melisa Laik Families Officer

(she/her)

Melisa is currently pursuing a Master of Development Studies, bringing over 13 years of professional experience as a development practitioner in Indonesia. As both a parent and a graduate student, she deeply understands the challenges of balancing academic commitments, career responsibilities, and family life.

In her role as Families Officer, she is dedicated to advocating for the needs of student parents, ensuring they have access to essential resources, supportive networks, and opportunities to thrive both academically and personally. She believes that student parents deserve not only educational excellence but also strong family well-being and opportunities for international engagement on campus. She maintains that academic and family life should complement each other, fostering growth as scholars, caregivers, and active members of a diverse community.

Through her role, Melisa hopes to build a supportive network among student parents — a community built on emotional connection, practical guidance, and shared fellowship.
