Hello, my name is Matthew (He/Him), a first year JD student who is very excited for the opportunity to advocate for students. The pandemic brought with it many challenges to students, both personal and academic, that fundamentally altered the way students engage with their courses and their peers. The shift to dual-delivery for many students has been a particularly jarring experience, bringing with it further challenges exacerbated by the pandemic.

Having originally lived in rural Victoria for my youth, I have experienced some of these challenges first hand. Many students have not been fully satisfied with the consistency of post-graduate online classes, resulting in students feeling alienated from their course and its content. With the multitude of new challenges arising from the pandemic, it is important, now more than ever, to have student advocacy focused on delivering positive outcomes for those whom feel like they’ve been left behind. I will ensure that all students have a chance to have concerns heard and redressed. I believe in providing transparency and accountability students at this university deserve.
