Aanchal Vinay Balse Vice-President
(she/her)
Aanchal is an international graduate student from Mumbai, India. She is currently in her third year of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Melbourne Veterinary School and has a Bachelors in Biotechnology and Masters by Research in Cell and Developmental Biology.
Stepping into the role of the GSA’s International Officer last year, she advocated for students affected by the Visa 485 changes, accommodation issues, food insecurity and social isolation through university’s student representative committees, talks with government stakeholders, cultural events, free food, professional networking forums, the Buddy Program (peer-mentorship) and the International Student Employment Experience (ISEE) survey.
As a Board member and Vice President, she is excited to build on the work she’s done so far to further strengthen communication across the organisation, the graduate student body, and key stakeholders. She believes this to not only be vital for transparent governance, but also for ensuring that the GSA can genuinely and efficiently meet the needs of graduate students. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the graduate community and deeply appreciates the trust placed in her through this new role. If you see her around campus, don’t hesitate to say hi!
