I hope everyone is keeping safe and well no matter where you are. For those of us under Stage 3 restrictions or similar, remember that it’s normal to be feeling isolated or overwhelmed by the current situation. There are supports available through the University and through GSA, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need help navigating these.
To help with these services even further, we want to hear your input and feedback about support services, connectedness on campus, and the impact of COVID-19. Our Student Resilience Survey asks these questions and includes a random prize draw for 50 participants to receive $20 vouchers.
In good news, GSA welcomes the positive changes announced by the federal government in relation to international student visas. There is more work that needs to be done to better support international students, however. Part of our continued advocacy involves our upcoming submission to the Senate Select Committee on Temporary Migration, to be published in August.
And if you’re looking for ways to get involved and connect with the grad community, GSA is always running a range of free online events for grad students. We are also now unveiling our Semester 2 Orientation program, with even more ways than usual to get involved. Learn more about Grad Orientation here.
As always, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me at president@gsa.unimelb.edu.au; my virtual door is always open to any grad student who wishes to get in touch.
