International Student Assistance – Sport Event Tickets

Attending sports events is an important part of Australian culture yet many international students are not able to participate due to the cost of events and financial concerns. GSA’s International Officer, Brian Su, will be supporting international students to attend sporting events in Melbourne over the summer. Eligible students can apply and those who are successful will be granted a $50 reimbursement on a ticket to a sporting event in Melbourne between 5 December 2022 and 28 February 2023.

Important information:
  • Applications are open 9am Thursday 17 November – 5pm Thursday 24 November 2022
  • GSA stakeholders (including staff, Board, Representative Council, and Faculty Council) are not eligible to apply
  • This scheme is open to currently enrolled International students only
  • Reimbursement is for $50 per individual and only a limited number are available
  • applications must be for sporting events held in Melbourne between Monday 5 December 2022 and Tuesday 28 February 2022
  • applications will be reviewed and successful students will be notified – submitting an application does not guarantee it will be successful
  • students should wait to hear the outcome of their application before buying tickets
  • successful students will need to purchase the ticket to their approved event and keep their purchase receipt or proof of purchase to claim their reimbursement
  • student will need to be able to be contacted by phone and email to organise their reimbursement
  • students will ONLY be reimbursed for a ticket to the event that they included in their application – if a ticket is purchased to a different event the reimbursement will NOT be given
  • reimbursements will not be paid until after 25 January 2023 due to university closedown and finance requirements
  • Applications that do not have all required information will be removed
