Lawyers Without Borders (LWOB)
As part of a global network of Lawyers without Borders student divisions, our division at MLS shares the same aims — to advance the rule of law and protect the integrity of the judicial process.
Melbourne Law School’s Student Division of Lawyers without Borders is the first to be established in Australia, joining a global network of Divisions. Our aims are shared with the parent organisation, with the mission of advancing the rule of law and protecting the integrity of the judicial process. This is manifested in a commitment to creating access to justice for those who are marginalised. More specifically, we have a two-fold mission:
– Fostering a deep culture of pro bono amongst students before they enter the profession, and;
– Providing opportunities for students to engage in Rule of Law oriented activities.
Club Aims:
– To foster a deep culture of pro bono amongst law students before they enter the profession.
– To provide opportunities for students to engage in Rule of Law oriented activities.
– To create an environment for the discussion and debate of legally-oriented human rights needs.
– To establish a community of lawyers and law students passionate about using the law for the public good.
