GSA’s ongoing response to COVID-19
GSA is still working to support you during COVID-19.
As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change, GSA is still supporting you as much as we can. We continue to follow the advice of both the University of Melbourne and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This means we’ve had to change the way we operate.
Our physical spaces are unavailable – but you can still contact us.
We’ve rescheduled all our events, and our physical spaces are no longer available. The Reception desk is currently unstaffed to allow most of our team to work remotely. However, our support and engagement teams are operating as normal and are available to answer queries.
To contact Reception, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call our dedicated freecall hotline: 1800-GSA-HELP (1800 472435). This hotline is open 9am–5pm, Monday–Friday. Feel free to call us if you need advice on any graduate student concerns, whether related to COVID-19 or not.
We are actively representing you.
Our Representation team is collating the current and future impacts experienced by graduate students as a direct result of the coronavirus and of the containment efforts. This will inform the advocacy of our committee representatives and management to the university for support for students.
Please feel free to email the representation team at email@example.com.
We’re working on new ways to support Grad Groups.
In the interests of safety, all Grad Groups should postpone or reschedule any planned face-to-face meetings and events until further notice, just as we have rescheduled ours.
We know that maintaining student interaction and university life is still hugely important, and that a sense of community can make a critical difference for student welfare and wellbeing. As such, we are committed to finding alternative ways to keep supporting Grad Groups and the wider graduate student community during this challenging period.
Our support might take different forms, such as increased online engagement, but we will keep you updated as the situation changes. See our FAQ on Grad Group support during COVID-19 for more.
Grad Groups are encouraged to continue supporting their constituents online and to engage in forward planning.
Keep yourself safe, practise social distancing, and stay up to date from official sources.
GSA is maintaining its goal of making every possible effort to support graduate students at the University of Melbourne.
