GSA expressions of interest for CAPA International Officer
GSA is seeking expressions of interest from GSA members (who are International Students only) to be nominated for the role of International Officer for the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations (CAPA).
CAPA is the peak body representing postgraduate students in Australia. As the national voice on postgraduate issues, CAPA communicates the interests and perspectives of postgraduate students to the Federal Government, Federal Opposition and minor parties, and higher education peak bodies. GSA is an affiliate of CAPA.
GSA proactively advocates for international students and is seeking to nominate a student who will be involved in this advocacy.
Duties of the CAPA International Officer include: acting as an advocate for the interests of international students, providing policy advice in relation to international postgraduate students, liaising with international students and international student organisations, attending appropriate conferences and fora, and liaising with equity and international officers of other postgraduate associations. There is a $1000 per year stipend attached to the role.
If you are an international student and a member of GSA, and are interested in GSA endorsing your nomination to CAPA, please send your expression of interest to GSA President Jeremy Waite and cc GSA Manager – Business Operations/Finance Sajal Goundar. A paragraph (not more than 250 words) explaining your interest in this role should be included in the email.
Expressions of interest are due by 5pm on Monday the 18th of January. The GSA President will contact applicants to discuss their candidature.
