Board Member, International Officer, Education (Research) Officer, Engineering and IT Faculty Nominee:

After two years in Australia and at the University of Melbourne, it has become clear that many students from a variety of backgrounds face challenges underappreciated by their community. With my extensive background in mental health volunteering and student advocacy, e.g. as a previous international officer, I have the required hands-on experience to tackle policy issues. As an academic tutor and PhD researcher, I have experienced and seen many students struggle financially, mentally, and socially.

We can only do so much as individuals. It is time to have a good look at what the University can do to provide better services and financial security to talented students at brink of missing out on a better future. Real improvements in compensation and student protection are needed, as well as better transparency around expectations from students and staff.
