On 4 June 2018, the newly confirmed GSA Council met to elect its Office Bearers.

The position of GSA President is now held by Peng Kuang, a continuing member of GSA Council. His Vice President will be Kezhan (Jessica) Zhang, another continuing Councillor. The role of General Secretary now sits with Georgia Daly, GSA’s 2017-18 President.

GSA’s Executive Committee, which deals with finance and risk among other matters, always includes the above three positions. The remaining three members of the Executive are Adele Guille, the 2017-18 LGBTIQ Officer, and newly-elected Councillors Sepideh Jahangiri and Tangshuang (Ida) Qin.

GSA Council are here to represent you and to work on the issues that matter most to graduate students. If you have issues or suggestions you would like to discuss, their full contact details are available here.

You can also keep up-to-date with the events being run by specific office bearers on the GSA website or on Facebook. For example, next week your new Health and Welfare Officer Geng Huang will be hosting Men’s Health Day. Drop by Room 111 in Stop 1 to enjoy free massages, guided meditation and advice on a wide range of men’s health issues. This will also be an opportunity to meet Geng and discuss his plans for the Health and Welfare portfolio.

Council would also like to invite expressions of interest from students keen to get more involved with GSA’s work through a new system of Working Groups. The first three Working Groups to be established are Fares Fair PTV, Research Higher Degrees and LGBTIQ. You can find out more and get involved here.
