Join GSA for lunch and enjoy the Qixi (七夕) Festival celebrations!
Join GSA for a free lunch on Wednesday, 27th August, in the courtyard of the 1888 Building. This special edition celebrates the Qixi Festival.
About Qixi Festival (七夕节)
Qixi wishes luck and success to women in their careers, life, and relationships. In ancient Chinese society, while men worked on farms, women provided for their families and developed their businesses through all sorts of crafting, such as weaving, embroidery, and doll-making (they had their own labubus).
Fast-forwarding into modern times, Qixi honours female wisdom, dedication to mastery, self-improvement, and independence. We wish everyone and their loved ones a successful journey at the University and a bright future in their careers, research, and daily lives in this festive time.
It is celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th month on the Chinese lunisolar calendar, which is 29th August in the 2025 calendar year. We hope that your academics rise like the morning sun, shining its rays far and wide, and your careers run like rivers, unstoppable and all the way into the future.
