Teona Yamanidze Fine Arts and Music

Teona Yamanidze is currently pursuing her PhD in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (FFAM). Her research explores the intersections between aesthetics, film theory, and political issues within multicultural regions. Before her move to Melbourne, Teona completed her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Syracuse University, with the support of the Fulbright research scholarship. This opportunity was pivotal in her academic development, further supported by the Edmund S. Muskie Fellowship for young researchers, which facilitated her advancement in the field.

Teona is enthusiastic about fostering connections across various university departments and enhancing outreach and community engagement among Southbank graduate students with the main campus initiatives of the Graduate Student Association (GSA). She envisions organizing a series of social activities that will integrate multiple departments, thus strengthening the relationship between Southbank and the main campus. Her goal is to create a dynamic and vibrant environment where graduate students and staff can collaborate, connect, and contribute to an academic community.

Through her efforts, Teona aims to build a cohesive atmosphere that empowers everyone involved to engage more deeply with one another, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration across the university’s diverse research and academic landscape. She is eager to facilitate opportunities for meaningful interaction and collaboration, enriching the graduate experience for all participants.
